Angels Alighting at New Cambridge Co-Working Space?

Bill Warner (founder of Avid Technology, Wildfire, and one of the godfathers who is bringing TechStars to Boston this summer) tells me he's working out of the new C3 co-working space at Cambridge Innovation Center. His mission: to attract three or four other local angel investors to the space, and create a little angel investing cluster there.

In other angel news, Colorado entrepreneur and investor David Cohen announces that he has put together a small $2.5 million fund to invest in very early-stage start-ups (with some money from Warner). Cohen writes on his blog: "While this new fund will choose the best available investments nationally, we believe that some of those will naturally include companies exiting TechStars."

Raising Capital in the Current Climate

Sunday's Globe column focused on raising money from VCs, banks, angel investors, and other sources.

Here's the opening:

    Finding money to start a company (or keep one going) is worry number one right now for entrepreneurs, whether they're designing robots, starting a restaurant, opening a clothing boutique, or developing cancer drugs. And with banks, angel investors, and venture capital firms clinging more tightly than ever to their bankrolls, that worry is occupying much more mental bandwidth.

In Portsmouth Tomorrow: Northeast Regional Angel Investor Conf.

Just learning about this today, but if you're free on Wednesday and interested in the dynamics of angel investing in our region, here's the event for you: The Northeast Regional Angel Investing Conference, at the Sheraton Harborside in Portsmouth, NH.

Speakers include Jeff Sohl from UNH, David Cohen from TechStars, and Tech Coast Angels founder Luis Villalobos. Tickets are $50.
